Grid Services

Frequency Response

Open Energi was the UK’s first entrant into the dynamic Firm Frequency Response (FFR) market (other than generators in the Balancing Mechanism) in 2011. We are pioneers of providing both technical and commercial route-to-market capability for National Grid Electricity System Operator frequency-based products.

We have developed and tested our proprietary SoC management software over many years to deliver FFR with the lowest impact on our clients’ assets. Our tight close control algorithms lend themselves well to the newest frequency market, Dynamic Containment.

Our deep market knowledge also means we have one of the highest tender success rates in the market.

Route to market services;

1) Monthly FFR (Dynamic & Static)
2) Weekly FFR (Dynamic & Static)
3) Dynamic Containment

Open Energi also closely monitors other National Grid ESO services such as Reserve markets, and local DSO services, to ensure it is delivering the highest value possible to clients at all times.

Frequency Response

As the first non-BM entrant into the dynamic Firm Frequency Response (FFR) market in 2011, we were pioneers of distributed resources. We have developed and tested our proprietary SoC management software over many years to deliver FFR with the lowest impact on throughput and degradation.

We are actively working with National Grid ESO on the next iteration of frequency products (Containment, Moderation and Regulation) to ensure our solutions are futureproofed for the evolving requirements of a low inertia system.
